Why Am I Always Tired? 6 Common Reasons for Low Energy

If you've been wondering, “why do I have no energy?”, you're not imagining how frustrating it can be. You may get through your morning with coffee, feel sleepy again by afternoon, and still wonder “why am I always tired?” even though you think you're doing everything right.

The answer may not be as simple as needing more sleep. Your sleep quality, stress, nutrition, hormones, daily habits, and overall health can all affect how much energy you have.

Dr. Saima Rafiq, D.O., takes an individualized approach when evaluating wellness concerns at NUR Med Spa & Wellness. Understanding what may be contributing to your fatigue is an important first step before deciding what you need.

6 Reasons Why You Wake Up Tired

There are several reasons you may wake up feeling tired, even after what seems like a full night's sleep. Here are six common causes to consider.

1. You're Getting Enough Sleep, But Not Enough Restful Sleep

Getting eight hours of sleep does not always mean you got eight hours of good sleep.

You may fall asleep easily but wake up several times during the night. Snoring, breathing problems, restless legs, stress, or an uncomfortable sleep environment can all affect your sleep without you fully realizing it.

This is why you may wake up thinking, “why do I wake up tired after 8 hours of sleep?”

Pay attention to how you feel when you wake up. If you regularly feel exhausted, groggy, or sleepy during the day even after a full night's sleep, the problem may be your sleep quality rather than the number of hours you sleep.

Other signs can include:

  • Waking up with a dry mouth or headache

  • Feeling sleepy during the day

  • Having trouble concentrating

If this happens regularly, talk with a healthcare professional. You may need to look at what is affecting your sleep rather than simply spending more time in bed.

2. Stress Could Be Draining Your Energy

You can be physically tired and still have a mind that refuses to slow down. Work, family, money, relationships, and everyday responsibilities can all add stress to your day. When your mind stays busy, it can be harder to relax and get restful sleep.

You may notice that you wake up tired and already feel overwhelmed by everything you need to do. Stress can also leave you feeling mentally drained. You might have trouble concentrating, feel irritable, or reach for coffee because you have no energy.

If you started feeling more tired around the same time your stress increased, it is worth looking at both together.

3. Your Diet May Be Affecting Your Energy

What you eat can also affect how you feel during the day. Skipping meals or not getting enough nutrients can leave you feeling tired and run down. Certain vitamin and mineral deficiencies can also contribute to fatigue.

Vitamin B12 is one example. Your body needs B12 for healthy red blood cells and normal nerve function, and low B12 levels can cause tiredness.

That does not mean every person with low energy needs a B12 injection or supplement. For people with an identified nutritional need, we offer B12 injections and Vitamin D3 injections in Lake Nona, Orlando, as part of the wellness services.

4. Hormone Changes May Be Playing a Role

If you keep asking, “Why am I always tired?”, take a look at whether anything else has changed. Hormone changes can sometimes happen alongside changes in sleep, mood, concentration, and energy. This can be especially noticeable during stages such as perimenopause and menopause. Some men with low testosterone may also experience low energy along with other symptoms.

Tiredness by itself does not mean you have a hormone imbalance. There can be many other reasons for low energy. But if your fatigue is happening along with other changes, hormone health may be something to discuss with a healthcare professional.

Our med spa in Lake Nona, Florida provides bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for patients who are appropriate candidates.

5. Too Much Caffeine Could Be Keeping the Cycle Going

Coffee can make you feel more awake when you are tired. The problem is when you start depending on it to get through every day.

It can turn into a cycle:

Wake up tired → drink coffee → feel tired again → drink more coffee → have trouble sleeping → wake up tired again.

Caffeine can affect sleep, especially when you have it later in the day. So if you are constantly tired, look at both how much caffeine you drink and when you drink it. Instead of only asking, “How can I get more energy?”, it may be more useful to ask, “Why am I so tired in the first place?”

6. An Underlying Health Problem Could Be Causing Your Fatigue

Sometimes there is a bigger reason behind persistent tiredness. Health conditions such as anemia, thyroid problems, sleep apnea, nutritional deficiencies, medication side effects, and hormone changes can all affect your energy.

Anemia or low iron can leave you feeling tired and weak. Thyroid problems can also affect energy, sleep, and other parts of your health. If you snore, wake up frequently, or still feel exhausted after a full night of sleep, a sleep disorder such as sleep apnea may also be worth discussing with a healthcare professional.

Mental health can play a role, too. Ongoing anxiety or depression can affect sleep, concentration, motivation, and energy.

This is why searching “why am I sleepy all the time?” can give you a long list of possible answers, but it cannot tell you which one is causing your symptoms. If your fatigue continues for several weeks or starts getting in the way of your normal life, talk with a healthcare professional. They can review your symptoms and health history and decide whether you need blood work, a sleep evaluation, or other testing.

The important thing is not to assume that being tired is simply something you have to live with. Finding the reason behind your low energy can help you figure out what to do next.

Could a Wellness Consultation Be Right for You?

If you're in Lake Nona & Orlando and your low energy is happening alongside hormone, nutrition, or general wellness concerns, NUR Med Spa & Wellness offers several services that may be relevant depending on your individual needs.

NUR's Lake Nona wellness services include hormone therapy, B12 and Vitamin D3 injections, and NAD+ therapy, among other options.

These services are not a one-size-fits-all solution for tiredness. The right approach depends on what may be contributing to your symptoms and your individual health needs.

When Should You Talk to a Healthcare Professional?

Feeling tired once in a while is normal. But if it continues for weeks or starts affecting your daily life, it may be time to look into the cause.

At NUR Med Spa & Wellness, Dr. Saima Rafiq, D.O., takes an individualized approach to wellness. During a consultation, she can discuss your symptoms, health history, and overall wellness to help determine what may be contributing to your low energy.

If you're in Lake Nona or Orlando, you can schedule a wellness consultation with NUR to discuss your concerns and explore your options.

IPL vs. Laser Treatment: Which Is Right for Your Skin?

IPL and laser treatment both use light energy to treat skin concerns, but they work differently and produce different results. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) emits multiple wavelengths of light, while laser devices emit a single, concentrated wavelength. This difference affects treatment precision, skin compatibility, recovery time, and the conditions each technology treats most effectively.

What Are Crow's Feet? Causes, Prevention & Treatment Options

TL;DR: Crow's feet are the fine lines that fan out from the outer corners of your eyes. They come from repeated facial expression (dynamic lines) and from age-related collagen and elastin loss (static lines). Daily sunscreen and retinol can slow their progression, but neuromodulator injections, dermal fillers, laser resurfacing, and chemical peels treat existing lines directly. Most patients get the fastest results from injections, and a combination plan works best for lasting improvement.

How Long Does Botox Last? What to Expect

Botox typically lasts 3 to 4 months for most patients, although the exact timeline varies based on the treatment area, dosage, muscle activity, and individual metabolism. Some areas, such as the masseter muscles, may maintain results for up to 6 months, while treatments like a lip flip usually wear off sooner. First-time patients usually see shorter results than repeat patients do.

Lip Filler Swelling Stages: What Your Lips Really Look Like While Healing

If your lips look overly swollen right after filler, don’t worry. That’s usually part of the process. The truth is, the lip filler swelling stages can be an emotional rollercoaster, especially during the first few days when swelling, tightness, and unevenness are at their peak. Many people think something went wrong before their lips even have time to heal properly.

What Is a Medical Spa: Treatments, Costs & What to Expect

A medical spa, or med spa, is a licensed medical facility that combines the relaxing environment of a traditional spa with physician-supervised aesthetic treatments. Unlike a day spa, a med spa is classified as a medical practice. It offers non-surgical procedures that go beyond the skin's surface, including injectables, laser treatments, skin tightening, body contouring, and medical-grade skincare, all performed or overseen by a licensed healthcare provider.
